Providing quality mental health services

When a person experiences acute psychiatric impairment, the professionals at Doctors Behavioral Health Center immediately begin a plan of action: Stabilize, socialize and support.

Doctors Behavioral Health Center is a 67-bed inpatient psychiatric treatment center affiliated with Doctors Medical Center of Modesto. It provides quality mental health services for adults, specifically:

  • Immediate, 24/7 crisis assessment
  • Individual treatment plans developed by a multidisciplinary team of professionals
  • Stabilization with medication
  • A structured environment for close observation and treatment
  • Group and individual therapy
  • Family sessions
  • Connection to community resources upon discharge

Treating a range of mental health disorders

Doctors Behavioral Health Center offers treatment for adults experiencing a range of emotional difficulties. They may include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Traumatic stress
  • Impaired thinking
  • Suicidal thinking and behaviors
  • Prolonged grief reactions
  • Substance abuse in addition to a mental health disorder

As soon as they are admitted to the center, patients receive a psychiatric and medical evaluation. A treatment plan is developed by a team of physicians, licensed psychiatric nurses, master’s-level therapists, mental health counselors, recreational therapists, and clinical case managers. All assessments are confidential, and our mobile assessment team is available to travel to other area hospitals where emergency patients in need of mental health care have been admitted.

We promote a higher level of independence for our patients — helping them to emerge from self-isolation, function on their own, enhance their self-esteem and social skills and become stronger decision-makers.

Doctors Behavioral Health Center Partial Hospitalization Program

Doctors Behavioral Health also offers a Partial Hospitalization Program for patients whose psychiatric illness is impairing their ability to function successfully in their lives, and where traditional outpatient therapy services are not sufficient to meet their needs.

The program runs Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Individual patient needs and response to treatment determines length of stay in the program. Partial Hospitalization participants benefit from returning home in the evenings and maintaining important connections to their family, friends and community. This allows them the opportunity to practice new skills and promote confidence, independence and develop positive change.

Patients may be referred to Doctors Behavioral Health Center Partial Hospitalization Program by Physicians, Mental Health Professionals, Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and Community Agencies for:

  • Mood Disorder/Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Grief and Loss
  • Trauma
  • Life Transitions
  • Relationship and Family Issues

Before beginning the program each patient receives a psychiatric evaluation and an individualized treatment plan. Treatment modalities include group therapy, instructional lectures, skills training, medication management, and weekly family meetings and individual therapy as needed. Treatment team meetings, which include a board-certified psychiatrist, registered nurse, licensed social worker and activity therapist, take place weekly to review each patient’s ongoing progress and treatment, as well as plan for care after discharge.

Most major insurance plans accepted. For more information or to make a referral, call the Doctors Behavioral Health Center Partial Hospitalization Program at (209) 557-6304
