Pink Code Sun Walk Held for Breast Cancer Survivor

May 4, 2021

Doctors Medical Center held a special "Code Sun" celebratory walk for one of our beloved employees, Karmina Mora.

Karmina was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer last September and started chemotherapy in October. She underwent surgical treatment earlier this year, and then continued with weekly chemotherapy treatment. She finished her final round of chemo the week of May 2, 2021, and her most recent scans came back clear! We were so honored to celebrate with her! The cherry on top? Karmina's family surprised her at the hospital as her final stop on her celebratory walk.

Karmina is not only a cancer survivor, but she conquered cancer through a pandemic, all while continuing to work and care for her family at home. We're so proud of you, Karmina!

During a “Code Sun” walk at Doctors Medical Center, the song “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles plays over the hospital speakers to let others know that we’re celebrating the discharge of a patient who has spent more than 30 days in the hospital or a patient who successfully fought through a grueling illness or treatment, like Karmina.
