Feb 28, 2023

Modesto, Calif. – Are you looking to make a difference in people’s lives? Volunteering at Doctors Medical Center can be a great way to have a profound impact on people in our community.

The volunteers at Doctors Medical Center are dedicated to helping the hospital maintain its goal of excellence in healthcare. Our staff is dedicated to a philosophy of care, compassion and commitment, and our volunteers help drive that philosophy home. Volunteers are a vital part of the hospital, providing a great resource for patients, families, visitors and employees.

“Our volunteers provide thousands of hours of service every year to help enhance the experience of our patients, their families and our employees. We appreciate their ongoing commitment and dedication to our hospital and the communities we serve,” said Jay Krishnaswamy, CEO of Doctors Medical Center. “Volunteering at a hospital is a great way to give back to our community and be part of something special. We encourage anyone who might be interested to apply.”

Volunteering has its rewards:

  • The chance to make new friends
  • Feel needed and fulfilled
  • Develop new interests
  • Share your talents
  • Annual flu shot
  • Community service
  • Participate in hospital activities
  • Make a different in the lives of others

Volunteers are generally placed according to need and may be moved to fill important openings. However, we try to align positions with each volunteer’s special skills and talents, when possible. They serve in many areas of the hospital including: gift shop, information desk, maternity and pre-operative care unit. Volunteers might be asked to greet patients and families, organize charts or help with many other functions around the hospital.

Volunteers must be 25 years of age or older and fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Tuberculosis (TB) testing will be provided by the hospital. Volunteers typically commit to two, 3-4 hour shifts per month.
