Doctors Medical Center Honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Oct 25, 2021

Doctors Medical Center was proud to shine the spotlight on Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout the month of October.

Hospital employees wore pink in honor of the observance and the ones we love impacted by breast cancer, including some of our own employees who are breast cancer survivors.

In addition, Doctors Medical Center had a team representing our hospital at the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Oct. 23, 2021, at Modesto Junior College.

Making Strides participants walk to celebrate and honor breast cancer survivors and caregivers, educate the public about prevention and detection to reduce the risk of the disease, and raise funds to help end breast cancer.

One out of every eight women will develop breast cancer sometime in her lifetime. If detected early, the five-year survival rate is 98 percent. Mammograms are the most effective form of early detection. Annual mammograms are an important part of a woman’s wellness routine, generally beginning at age 40.
