Modesto, Calif. – Volunteers at Doctors Medical Center provide thousands of hours of compassionate service every year to help enrich the experience of patients, their families and hospital staff. There’s always room for more dedicated volunteers with the Service League of Doctors Medical Center.

Community members can volunteer at Doctors Medical Center in some of these ways:

  • Communication/Floater – Deliver mail and newspapers to hospital units and run errands as requested.
  • Escort – Greet and help newly admitted patients to their rooms, as well as assist discharged patients, by wheelchair, to the outside pickup area.
  • Gift Box – Volunteers operate the hospital gift shop, which is the Service League’s primary source of funds used for scholarships.
  • Maternity – Provide services to the patients in the Women & Children’s Center and run errands for the staff.
  • Pre-Admission Center Receptionist – Provide information and assistance to patients and families in the Pre-Admission Center and prepare packets for the nursing staff.
  • Pre-Operative Care Unit – Work with nurses and staff. Discharge patients by wheelchair and assist staff with various duties.
  • Telephone at Front Desk – Answer phone calls and take messages to inform the Floaters and Escort staff of service requests.

Service League volunteers must be 25 years of age or older, and able to commit to one year of volunteering. Volunteers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Tuberculosis (TB) testing will be provided by the hospital.

Doctors Medical Center is always looking to add new members to the volunteer family to assist patients, visitors, nurses and staff. To apply to become a volunteer, click here.
