Central California Diabetes Center

The goal of the Central California Diabetes Center of Doctors Medical Center is to facilitate disease management in collaboration with a team of dedicated health care professionals. The Central California Diabetes Center was established to better meet the needs of the people of our growing community. In addition, the program assists our physicians in the care of their diabetic patients.

Who may benefit from this program?

Newly diagnosed individuals, and those with long-standing diabetes may participate in this program.
Women with gestational diabetes, or type 1 or type 2 diabetes who are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.

Education can help diabetics take better control of their disease, and learning about diabetes is an on-going process. Early attention to diabetes management helps lower the risk of long-term complications and more importantly, gives the diabetic a better quality of life.
According to the American Diabetes Association, there are 15.7 million people or 5.9% of the population in the United States who have diabetes. 10.3 million people are diagnosed, while 5.4 million people are unaware they have diabetes. About 798,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year.

It is well documented that Hispanic Americans, Blacks, and Native Americans are up to five times more prone to develop diabetes than other groups in the United States.
