Doctors Medical Center Awarded Three UnitedHealth Premium® Specialty Center Designations and Recognized by HealthGrades as One of the Nation’s Best for Clinical Outcomes

Modesto, CA – Doctors Medical Center announced that it has received three United Premium® Specialty Center designations for 2007 to 2009. These designations mean that the hospital has met rigorous quality criteria based on nationally recognized medical standards and expert advice.

Doctors Medical Center received the following designations:
    · Cardiovascular Surgery
    · Electrophysiology
    · Interventional Cardiology

“We are pleased that our hospital has been recognized by UnitedHealthcare for the high quality care that we provide,” said Dennis Litos, Chief Executive Officer of Doctors Medical Center. “Our physicians and staff work very hard to provide quality patient care, and these designations are evidence of the high standard of care we deliver every day.”

The UnitedHealth Premium designations are based on detailed information about programmatic structure, patient care processes and clinical outcomes that are submitted by the hospital to UnitedHealthcare.

The United Health Premium designations are not the only cardiac awards bestowed on Doctors Medical Center in recent months. HealthGrades, a health care rating company, recently awarded Doctors Medical Center the top rating – five stars – for cardiac interventional procedures including angioplasties and stents. This is the fifth year in a row that the hospital has received this honor. In addition to the five stars rating, Doctors Medical Center received the following HealthGrades designations:
    · Ranked Among the Top 5% in the Nation for Coronary Interventional Procedures (2008)
    · Ranked No. 3 in California for Coronary Interventional Procedures (2008)

These prestigious designations are only a snapshot of Doctors Medical Center’s dedication to providing optimal patient care. Fully accredited by the Joint Commission, Doctors Medical Center has exceeded the national scores on the Hospital Quality Alliance’s Hospital Compare Core Measures initiative, which is co-sponsored by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Doctors Medical Center has consistently outperformed the national average for all four areas reported in the Hospital Compare metrics for the past six quarters. Our most recent score of 92.0 percent exceeds the national average of 86.7 percent.
