Local Hospital Second West of the Rockies to Offer Intra-Operative O-armTM Imaging System

MEDIA OPPORTUNITY – JUNE 1, 2007, 9:00AM – 11:00AM

On Friday, June 1, 2007, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Doctors Medical Center of Modesto will offer local media outlets the opportunity to get up close to a sophisticated intra-operative imaging system, the O-armTM. During this time period, media representatives will be able to enter the Operating Room, interview local neuro-surgeon Benjamin Remington, MD, view case studies of the Imaging System, and profile this new technology that is now available in the Central Valley.

The O-armTM Imaging System provides complete multi-dimensional, intra-operative surgical imaging. It provides surgeons with real-time, 3-D images, as well as multi-plane, 2-D and fluoroscopic imaging. Using these images, physicians affiliated with Doctors Medical Center can view the patient anatomy in the operative position, monitor the status of the surgery, and verify the surgical changes with a 3D volumetric image prior to the patient leaving the surgical suite. As a result, patients undergoing applicable procedures may experience less invasive surgeries, faster recovery times, and improved outcomes.

“With the O-ArmTM, I get immediate feedback enabling me to see high-quality images of what I’m doing as I am doing it. It is a tremendous benefit to the community to have such an advanced piece of equipment at this hospital,” says Dr. Remington, who predicts that most high-end neurosurgery centers will be acquiring this new technology.
