Doctors Medical Center Cardiology Shift Manager
Inducted into the Tenet Heroes Hall of Fame

Mike McLean Recognized for Helping Stranded Family Reunite with Heart Attack Patient

MODESTO, Calif. – February 22, 2012 – Doctors Medical Center announced today that Mike McLean, a cardiology shift manager for the hospital, has been inducted into the Tenet Heroes Hall of Fame, Tenet Healthcare Corporation’s highest honor for employees, at a ceremony in Dallas, Texas, on January 31.

McLean has been known, during his more than 20 years of service at Doctors Medical Center, to go the extra mile for patients. Recently, he went well beyond his role to assist a patient and his family.

While on a trip with his family, a patient had to be flown in after suffering from an acute myocardial infarction. The family had taken a 36-foot motor home that the wife was unable to drive. Upon hearing about the patient and his stranded family, McLean immediately took action to ensure the family could be with the patient.  McLean contacted his brother, who was licensed to drive the motor home, and coordinated a plan to help the family pack their campsite and transport them to the hospital. Before they arrived, McLean cleared the motor home’s arrival with security and made sure it would be allowed to stay on the hospital grounds. When the family arrived well after-hours, McLean was there to greet them, settle them in and reunite the family.

“Our Tenet Hero inductees represent the best of who we are at Tenet and what we do as health care providers in the communities we serve,” said Trevor Fetter, Tenet’s president and chief executive officer.  “The exceptional service and genuine patient concern provided by professionals like Mike serves as an inspiration to us all.”

McLean was one of seven employees inducted into the Tenet Heroes Hall of Fame.  This year’s recipients were chosen from almost 100 nominations.  Tenet Heroes are nominated by their hospital’s leadership team and selected based on their dedication to their patients, co-workers and communities.  The Tenet Heroes Hall of Fame recognizes exceptional employees who demonstrate Tenet’s values of quality, integrity, service, innovation and transparency and represent the best of who we are and what we do.
