Health through education is the goal of the Doctors Medical Center Foundation. Since 1976, the Foundation has been committed to enhancing the health of the Stanislaus County community.
The Foundation is a nonprofit organization independent from Doctors Medical Center. Although the hospital generously provides some in-kind services to the Foundation and has funded special programs, its volunteer board directs the Foundation. Board members meld their expertise from various businesses and community elements into the common goal of continuing awareness and progress in healthcare.
The Foundation promotes better health in the community in many ways—from direct information for individuals to scholarships, to help ensure an adequate supply of health professionals for the future.
The Foundation sponsors the following programs:
Lifeline A personal response system helping people stay safely at home.
Scholarships Help prepare local students for careers in health care.
Miller's Place A day care center and annual conference for those with Alzheimer's disease or similar dementias and their caregivers.
Medical Outreach Mobile Takes prenatal care to needy women.
Ongoing classes Health care seminars and ongoing classes such as CPR, first aid, childbirth education, and child safety.
Telecare Recorded health messages by phone.
