Doctors Medical Center Proud to Host California Transplant Donor Network Event, "No Greater Love"

April 7th is National Donor Awareness Day

Doctors Medical Center, in cooperation with the California Transplant Donor Network, will host a National Donor Awareness Day Event on April 7th.  The public, as well as physicians and medical personnel, are invited to attend this free event.

Firefighter and paramedic Brian Hinsley, fully recovered from a liver transplant, is the subject of "No Greater Love", a PBS documentary on organ donation and transplantation.  The film was produced to increase awareness of organ donation.  The 15 minute documentary will be shown at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

At this event, attendees will also have the opportunity to register, on the newly launched statewide registry website, their consent to donate specific or all organs and tissues upon their death.

Doctors Medical Center of Modesto (DMC) is a part of Tenet California, the state's largest hospital system.  DMC is a 398-bed acute care hospital, offering a wide range of services including cardiology, neurology, emergency and trauma services, air ambulance, women and children's services, orthopedics, medical/surgical, oncology, and critical/intensive care.  DMC employs more than 2,000 employees and has over 500 physicians on staff.  DMC is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the nation's oldest and largest hospital accreditation agency.
