Doctors Medical Center makes donation to the Kelsi Austin Lowe Foundation in name of Anita Schlenker to celebrate National Nurses Week and National Hospital and Healthcare Week
Modesto, CA – May 7, 2007 – During National Nurses Week and National Hospital & Healthcare Week, May 6-12, Doctors Medical Center and the Tenet Healthcare Foundation are honoring Anita Schlenker, RN, Trauma Program Manager with a $500 donation to the Kelsi Austin Lowe Foundation.
“Choosing just one person to be honored from among our employees wasn’t an easy task,” said Dennis Litos, Chief Executive Officer. “However, Anita has set an example for her co-workers through what she does to educate children and adults about trauma prevention as well as raising awareness about the trauma services that DMC provides to our community.”
Schlenker has served at Doctors Medical Center since January 1999. “I wanted to keep the donation in the community,” she says. “I looked into many groups and settled on this one. The Kelsi Austin Lowe Foundation helps families of children who are critically ill or injured. I felt this was a great way for our hospital to show support to members of our community that are experiencing financial hardships while they are having to travel for expert pediatric health care.”
As part of the celebration of National Nurses Week and National Hospital and Healthcare Week, the Tenet Healthcare Foundation will contribute more than $30,000 on behalf of outstanding employees who are recognized at Tenet hospitals across the country.
This week is a time to say “thank you” to all of the health care professionals who have dedicated their lives to providing high quality patient care. These are people who work tirelessly every day of the year to making a difference in the lives of those around them. They give hope and comfort to our patients and their families.
