| Tenet Healthcare Foundation has awarded college scholarships to four local students, all of whom are children of Doctors Medical Center employees. The winners are: Kelly Creeggan, Heather Johnson, Nathaniel Madsen, and Keith Plantier. This year, the Tenet Foundation awarded a total of $320,187 to 229 students of employees through the Foundation's own Children of Employees Scholarship program, as well as through continued funding of the National Merit and Achievement Scholarship programs. "Helping these deserving students pursue post-secondary study is an investment not only in our employees, but in the work force of tomorrow." These young adults are on their way to making their college dreams and goals come true. Here is a little bit more about each winner: Kelly Creeggan Photo.pdf is the daughter of William and Cynthia Creeggan (Lab). She is a recent graduate of Downey High School where she was an active member of Student Council and the Tennis Team. For extracurricular activities, Kelly has completed a summer internship at Gallo Winery, attended the Girls State Delegate 2001, is a Life Member/Sealbearer of the California Scholarship Federation, and served as a Modesto City Youth Commissioner. Kelly is now beginning her first year of college at California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo. "We are very proud of our daughter's academic accomplishments and are very pleased that Tenet rewards students and help them to achieve their career goals," stated Cynthia. Heather Johnson HJPhoto.pdf is a three-time recipient of the Tenet Foundation scholarship and the daughter of Gail and Sam Johnson (Respiratory Care). Heather is beginning her third year at California State University Chico where she is studying Animal Sciences. She is a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, Sigma Alpha Professional Sorority, the Stockdog Club, and is the Swine Unit Head Herdsman. "We appreciate Tenet's support of its employees. This is Heather's third Tenet scholarship and will continue to help with the cost of her education. She continues to pursue her career in agriculture and would like to become a teacher," stated her proud parents. Nathaniel Madsen NMPhoto.pdf, son of William (Lab) and Gayle Madsen, is currently beginning his second year at University of California, Davis and plans to major in English. This is the second year that he has received the Tenet Scholarship. Accomplishments of Nathaniel include, but are not limited to, Varsity Tennis Captain, National Merit Scholar, Golden State Seal Diploma, School Newspaper Sports Editor, and he is a Scholar Athlete. "I am very grateful to Tenet in having scholarships available for our children. It is great to work for a company that cares about helping our children meet their desires for a higher education," said Bill. Keith Plantier KPPhoto.pdf is the son of Jeanne and David (Respiratory Care) Plantier. He is currently beginning his third year in college as a transfer student to University of California, Los Angeles and is majoring in English/Liberal Arts. Keith has made the Dean's list at MJC for the last three semesters, and has an interest in literature. "All of my life I have been a student willing to work hard for letter grades, and now it finally has paid off. This scholarship is definitely a building block in the future of my educational foundation. I am appreciative and honored to be named the recipient of such and award, and thank all involved in the distribution of the scholarship," stated Keith. The Children of Tenet Employees Scholarship program is administered for Tenet by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Citizens' Scholarship foundation of America Inc. The National Merit and Achievement Programs are administered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
